STEM Mentors

Engineers and Educators from Ten80 Education and Ten80 Foundations, a 501(c)3 charity, were early adopters of the Re-SEED program in which educators and STEM professionals are trained to work together and pair-up and meet weekly or monthly with youth to work on a motivating project together.

The Ten80 Student Racing Challenge: NASCAR STEM Initiative program provides an effective subject around which community mentors can build relationships with participating students. Teachers also benefit from sustained time working with and learning from STEM mentors.

Teacher Professional Development

Download the flier on Summer 2013 One-Day Trainings.  It is free to you thanks to the U.S. Army Sponsorship

In addition to training for educators who are actively implementing the Student Racing Challenge, Ten80 provides professional development for current and pre-service teachers that covers the following:

  • STEM education methods; breaking down subject-matter silos
  • Applied STEM concepts and skills (real problem solving skills)
  • Effectively engaging professional mentors with students

Ten80's engineer-educator teams understand that educators, like most people, learn best by doing and adhere to the 5 E's model.

  1. Engage learners
  2. Explore topics actively
  3. Explain what was explored
  4. Evaluate to assess content knowledge
  5. Extend the concepts and skills

Training is offered in a variety of ways.  Visit the facebook events tab for upcoming dates or contact us to learn more.
